Dear Altus school family:
This morning, the Altus Junior High received a report that a student may have a weapon on their person. All students are safe and no credible threat was found.
School resource officers and Altus Police Department were on scene immediately. Students were escorted through the school’s Open Gate weapon detection system and an investigation was conducted. Again, no credible threat was found. Students have resumed a normal school day.
There is nothing more important to Altus Public Schools than the safety, health and well-being of our students and staff. We are grateful to those who reported their concerns out of concern for the safety of their fellow classmates.
If you have any questions, please contact the school office for assistance.
Bulldogs, thank you for your support!
Sincerely,
Roe Worbes
Superintendent
