Bulldogs, Late this afternoon a cut was made in the gas line at the construction site of the new elementary school on Altus Air Force Base. The gas line cannot be repaired before the start of school tomorrow, Wednesday, January 7. For the safety and security of our students, faculty, and staff, Rivers Elementary will be closed on Wednesday, January 7. All other Altus Public Schools sites will be open and on a normal schedule. Congratulations to the Altus Junior High Halo Alpha Team for an outstanding State Tournament finish.
Caden Amore, Jakob Davis, Klayton Wallace, and Keith Foley showed strong teamwork, focus, and consistency throughout the season.
A big thank-you to our alternates, Noah Gonzalez and Devlen Gonzales, whose support and preparation played an important role in the team’s success.
We’re proud of the way this group represented Altus Junior High on the state stage. Well done to everyone involved.

Congratulations to the following JH Band members on auditioning and qualifying for the SWOBDA Band! For many of these students this was their first audition experience. These students will participate in a clinic and perform a concert at SWOSU on February 7, 2026!
7th Grade students in Mrs. Gribble classes were able to do a virtual reality lesson using VR headsets in the library with Mrs. McCasland over the Holocaust after reading Diary of Anne Frank
