Mrs. Wallace's Steam class has been working on a deserted island STEAM challenge where they completed challenges such as building a hut to withstand a windstorm, building a bridge to hold weight to escape the island and creating a message in a bottle while learning to work through the design and engineering process. The students also learned to work together in groups with limited resources and to complete projects with time restraints.

Our 8th grade students came to the library during their history classes to get a lesson from Mrs. McCasland and a hands on experience of what life was like during the colonial time period. AJH would love to thank the Oklahoma City History Center Museum for letting us borrow their traveling trunks!

Altus Junior High will have their Title I Site Review on Monday, Sept. 28th at 3:15 in the cafeteria.

We have the 1st home football game of the season tomorrow vs the Cache Bulldogs. Parents are invited to attend our pep-rally held in the big gym at 2:15. Band, football players, cheerleaders and an inspirational speech by our own Coach Hagy are on the agenda. Game time is 5:30 and 7:00 at Marshall Field!

Congratulations to Ethan Kudlacz the Steam poster winner and Ellie Braker the Entrepreneurship poster winner. These students designed their own posters and were selected winners by their peers. We were able use our new poster printer in the Steam lab to complete the project.

AJH is so happy that our students got to start with Lifewise today! Thank you to everyone who made this happen for our kids.

AJH is so happy Coach Whaley and his WOSC Lady Pioneers helped us welcome students to school this morning. They brought amazing energy to our hallways and it was great for our students to see these successful young adults giving back!

8th grade science has been learning about plant reproduction and how some plants throw seeds to increase the chances of their offspring surviving. Today they completed the great seed escape challenge: they had 20 minutes to build a catapult/sling to make their “seed” go the farthest.

Tutoring available now: before & after school! Permission slip must be signed to be allowed to stay in the afternoon. A snack and transportation is available (see slip for details).
